Blowing Out the Candles

four birthday candles on a lemon meringue pie

I actually had a lovely birthday.  So far it feels good to be 40.  My mother made me a delicious lemon meringue pie.  A co-worker brought red velvet cupcakes to work for me.  I got to spend time with both friends and family without too much drama.  Eric took me out to a fantastic restaurant for the most delicious dinner that included baklava ice cream cake for dessert.

I did buy myself a couple of things for my birthday – both of the things I had on my wishlist.  I’m really enjoying my line a day journal.  It’s interesting to see what comes into my mind when I sit down to write at the end of the day.  And of course, I just had to have that Peridot polish I was coveting.  It’s really gorgeous in person, and is just perfectly absinthe-fairy-green, sometimes gold and sometimes green.

I may have been so excited to have it finally that I tweeted this photo.

But, anyway, it was a delightfully lovely birthday and I hope it’s an indication of the year to come.
