The months keep zooming by faster and faster and April was no exception. I’m really loving doing these month in photos posts, not only because it’s a great way to remember what the hell I was up to, but it’s also so interesting to see the way the photos change with the seasons – my photos from January are vastly different from these photos not only in subject matter but the light is so different!
So, April started off with a flight to New York for Eric’s grandmother’s funeral. I’m so glad that we were there, and got to spend a bit of time with family that we haven’t seen in a long while – some who I’d never met. And as I mentioned in my post about Easter, it really had a huge impact on me. And perhaps all of the feelings that were brought up by that period of time were what triggered my complete 180 mood swing? There were a couple of weeks there that I was so out of sorts, and so sad and angry that I could barely stand myself. I certainly couldn’t stand other people. And when I say a complete 180, I mean it. I went from happy Spring, happy bright sunny buttery yellow nail polish to my big “back off” warning sign of black nail polish. I did eventually emerge from the worst of it, but I still don’t feel like I’ve got my groove back.
I finished up the last of the Fever series on the plane back from NY, and I’d picked up the Jenny Lawson book in the airport so I started it on the way home. I just finished it yesterday and am starting something new for May.
Eric and I celebrated our seven (!!) year anniversary on the 8th and he made us a lovely dinner at home and brought me roses. I did some work on my dad’s memorial sampler and started assembling my Tula Pink quilt – both were unfortunately fraught with issues (I should probably have waited to work on things until I was over my whatever it was mood).
Things did start to turn around a little bit last week and I felt a little better, took a day off work and even painted my nails gold (OPI Glitzerland, which is a dupe for Chanel Diwali that I was seriously coveting!). I even had a few productive days at home doing some photo editing (I have a huge backlog) and getting some scanning done in our going paperless project at home. And I got to have a fabulous dinner with a coworker and we tried out a new to me restaurant called Whiskey Cake (where we, in fact, ordered whiskey cake). It was sooooo good!
So the month was not a total wash, and I’m hoping that I can begin to sort through what all was going on with me and get back to my happy place. But, it’s better. Oh, and a big big thank you to Eric for changing my little social media icons – I am much happier with them!!
