Let Them Eat Cake

I am not a woman who spends a lot of (or any, really) time in the kitchen. Cooking is not one of my favorite things, although when I have the time I do enjoy it on occasion. What I do enjoy, though, is baking. It could be that baking is so detailed and regimented, it could be that I just love me some baked goods. Anyway, due to the whole baking thing, I am also a sucker for baking accoutrements. Enter: Williams-Sonoma. A few years ago I fell in love with their Sand Castle bundt cake pan. I loved the idea of making this for a summer party (perhaps my own birthday cake?).

The cake itself was accented with brown sugar for the sand and chocolate shells. It was love at first sight.

Ok, so I haven’t actually used my cute cake pan yet. But, yesterday I received an email from another lovely company, Sur la Table. And what are they featuring? The same Nordic cake pan, but decorated for Halloween! Love. It.

They’ve used icing, sunflower seeds and licorice to decorate the windows, added gumdrops and fondant bats and pumpkins to make a Haunted Castle.

And, while I’m thinking about cute cake pans, I can’t help but think back to these that were featured in the Martha Stewart catalog once upon a time…

Does it get any cuter? I think not.
