Limsanity and Other Adventures in Fashion

It hardly seems possible that September seems like a distant memory now, but that’s what happens when life is full.  But, let’s go back for a moment to the beginning of September, NY Fashion Week, and yes…the release of the Philip Lim collection for Target.  I don’t remember there ever being such a huge buildup and resultant craze over a collection like this since the Missoni collection was released back in Fall 2011.  Just refreshing Twitter or Instagram was a full-time workout to see what eager fashionistas were scooping up.  Needless to say, the hot pieces in the collection became harder and harder to come by as the hours and days wore on.  As much as I would have liked to, I didn’t manage to get my hands on any of the pieces.  If I had though, I would have definitely picked up these…

Mini Satchel with Gusset - Yellow

All of the leopard print items in the collection were fantastic.  I love the abstracted pattern in mustard and navy combination.  And it was seriously cute on.

The sweatshirt made a comeback with this bold graphic.  Such a fun piece to dress up or down – love the look above especially from Wake Up Your Wardrobe.  And I was no fan of the corresponding sweaterdress with the weird silhouette and chiffon skirt at the bottom (it did look so much better with the hem of the sweater pulled up higher rather than leaving it drop-waisted).  But, some crafty ladies took the liberty of removing the chiffon skirt entirely and I think it really was a much cuter look (in fact I like the navy sweater better than the grey sweatshirt, honestly).

And then there’s the bags.  It always kills me to see people snatch up cartfuls of bags with the sole purpose of keeping the one or two they want and selling the rest for crazy prices.  I just think that kind of behavior ruins it for everyone else.  If I’d bought a bag, I would have gone with the larger satchel, but the yellow mini is just too lovely.  Sigh.

So, now fast forward to February and the highly anticipated Peter Pilotto for Target collection just hit stores on the 9th.  It is also available through Net-A-Porter too, which is nice.  I think my favorite pieces in the collection are this blue dress and then the strapless one.

Seriously amazing color and pattern play.

The fun, neon prints are perfect for spring and summer.

There are some great blog posts of some of the pieces in OOTDs like this one.  But, you can also find a plethora of posts over on Instagram under the hashtag #peterpilottofortarget.  Here’s a little taste though…

Oh and I can’t forget some of the accessories that are available.  Love the sunglasses…

…and the tote!

I haven’t picked up any items from this collection either, but it’s fun flipping through all the IG photos and blog posts to see how they are added into wardrobes.  Wonder what’s next?!
